I know I've been neglecting the needs of the blog again, lately. Life's turned hectic on me, and I'm only finding a couple of hours each night in which I can sleep. Between managing my own career and music, keeping up with other sources, and dealing with "reality", this blog has been put on the backburner, but temporarily.
Expect some bomb-ass tracks soon.

Asle pres. Frost
I know I've been neglecting the blog as of late. We haven't been receiving a whole lot of quality submissions, and with the holidays, I haven't had the opportunity to do my usual music searching; but we're prepared to make up for that with this post.
This one is an oldie but a goodie, back from 2005. From Frost (one of the monikers of Asle Bjørn), "Wait For Me (Max Graham's Sidechain Mix) is one track that has stayed in my list of things to definitely play out when I first acquired it in April of 2009 on vinyl. I'm usually not one for Progressive House - this is one of very few exceptions; the riffs and guitar acoustics really provide a mellow and progressive take on the track, yet give it a real punch which many tracks with similar nature lack. The vocal is deep and longing, and has brought me to tears more than once while standing at the decks.
Despite its age, it is one of those "timeless" tracks that you never let go of once you have it.

DJ 101
Every Tuesday night, from 9:00 PM until 2:00 AM, is "DJ 101" with Ed Crunk of Dance, Robots, Dance! at Paralogia Ultra Lounge in Bricktown (Downtown Oklahoma City). This weekly event gives new DJs an open decks' night: a chance to play in Oklahoma City's premier nightlife district - Bricktown - in one of the City's most popular venues, alongside a man who has been referred to as one of the "granddaddies of Oklahoma City's club scene." It also gives newbies who want to learn the trade the chance to do just that: learn.
At 37, Ed Crunk is one of the senior DJs and promoters in Oklahoma, who was throwing parties when most of us who are around today were still in diapers.
DJs interested in playing need to show up need to arrive at Paralogia between 9:00-9:30PM and speak to James, the bartender.
No cover charge. 21+ to enter.

BeatPunks
Hopped over to RobotDanceMusic today, and saw that one of our fellow Oklahomans, BeatPunks, has pushed out another bangin' remix.
Run over to RobotDanceMusic to hear the track before you download, or just download it directly from Mediafire. And check out Bifid's MySpace, while you're at it!

Noticeably F.A.T.
Thought I'd share a mixtape from 2005 that can, to this day, be described with no word, or combination of them, other than "EPIC." "Set Yourself On Fire" from DJ Noticeably F.A.T. of OKC's Higher Level Industries, IFW, and Ground Zero Entertainment recorded this mix in his house one afternoon, nearly five years ago, with his friend Matt Evans as the sole witness.
Without a doubt, this is the best DJ mix I have ever heard in my life - and I don't expect that to change any time in the near or distant future. I've heard some solid mixes from some pretty well-known (as well as unknown) DJs, and this, well... "God is a DJ" is the only phrase that comes to mind. This is 57 minutes of "wow", and has managed to set the standard, at least for me, for any DJ mix that I hear after it. Fantastigasm!
Be sure to check out his MySpace and Twitter.

Datsik
I could be a bigger fan of Dubstep, truly. I consider it a "near-undanceable" genre; and people who try to dance to it usually look like they're having a slow-motion seizure. It's usually pretty embarrassing to see (or, I guess, hear) a DJ launch a Dubstep track, unless they're of exceptional talent. And it's really, really difficult to find a track that truly sets itself apart from every other track.
With that said, I mosied over to trashcanpunch the other day, and found this little gem from Datsik. Dark, gnarly, evil - these are the only words I have to describe "Southpaw."

One-Winged Angel
I'm not a narcissist, but I do know that I make some fairly decent tunes, at least. I've been busting my hump over the past couple of years to do well, and it's beginning to show. That said, here are some exclusive goodies from me that you won't find anywhere else.
First, a throwback way into 1982. This is the second time I've remixed Indeep's iconic "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life", the first instance being under the moniker of DJ Marshy. It was more Fidgety, whereas this mix incorporates bongos, and a replication of the original bassline. It's very tribalish.
Indeep - Last Night a DJ Saved My Life (One-Winged Angel Remix)
Next is a neat little Progressive Trance track. It has a pretty solid bassline & has some very atmospheric elements, but at the same time its energy goes through the roof. I sat down, intending to produce a "transition" track, and I damn sure succeeded!
One-Winged Angel - Stonehenge
Then an extended mix of a track Deadmau5 remixed specifically for FL Studio. Lots of vocal chopping, a wicked Trancebreaks bassline - everything about this one screams "SOLID!"
Deadmau5 - That's Not True (One-Winged Angel Extended Mix)
Finally, "Ghosts in the Oscillator" is obviously inspired by Deadmau5's "Progressive House" sound; it has a synth line that reminds one of "I Remember", but has a little organ spit similar to the same organ from "Ghosts 'n' Stuff" (from which the title is derived). Noms.

Rex Mundi Feat Susana - Nothing at All
I dug this up a few weeks ago, and I found it far too fucking awesome not to make it my first post. I'm fairly particular about the Trance I play, and promote, and listen to, and this track went straight to the "Oh my God" list as soon as I heard it.
Rex Mundi always bangs out some wicked stuff, and this one is no exception; featuring vocals from Susana, "Nothing At All" can be a little overwhelming for the unprepared. The vocals are beautiful, yet sad. The download includes a remix by Funabashi, which is what won me over - Funabashi is a lot of awesome wrapped in a awesome tortilla and made into an awesome burrito, get the picture? You know what? Just download it.
